What age division will my daughter play in?

Each age division is split up by birthday, not school grade.  The birth date cutoff is December 31st.  Here is breakdown by age division:

If your player turns 10 on or before December 31st, 2019 then will be on the 10u team. Note: if your player turns 11 anytime after December 31, 2019 they will play on the 10u team.

If your daughter turns 12 on or before December 31st, 2019 they will be on the 12u team. Note: if your player turns 13 anytime after December 31, 2019, they will play on the 12u team.

If your player turns 14 on or before December 31st, 2019 they will be on the 14u team. Note: if your player turns 15 anytime after December 31st, 2019 they will play on 14u. 

If your player turns 16 before December 31st 2019 she will be on the 16u team. Note: if your player turns 17 anytime after December 31st, 2019 they will play 16u.

How long does the softball season last?

The softball season starts with open gyms in March. Teams will be formed in May.  Games will begin in June and continue through until mid to late July.

What equipment is required?

Softball pants, socks, belt and cleats (metal cleats allowed at 14U and above only)  are required. Bats, balls, batting helmets and jerseys are provided.  Players are free to bring their own bats, batting helmets, and field masks. 

What is the time commitment for softball?

League play takes place two times per week, Monday through Thursday. Practices are usually 1-2 hours one day per week with double header games making up the other day.  Games and practices usually start around 6:00pm and are located at either Cox or Apollo fields in Grand Forks.

What is the extra time commitment of the travel team?

At the beginning of the season all players will have an opportunity to try out for the Grand Forks Express travel team. This travel team will compete at the following tournaments around the region:

Moorhead Kickstarter 14U/16U/18U:                                        June 6th in Moorhead, MN
Grand Forks Express Tournament (All Ages):                           June 20th-21st in Grand Forks, ND
Bemidji Blaze Tournament (All Ages):                                           June 26-28th in Bemidji, MN
ND State Fastpitch Tournament (All Ages):                               July 10-12th in Fargo, ND
Fargo-Moorhead Red River Rage (All Ages):                             July 17-19th in Fargo, ND

These tournaments are done in addition to weekly league play teams and practices.  Travel team practices will be advised by coaches.

Is there an extra free for making the travel team?

Yes, there is an extra fee of $50 for participating on the travel team. If your player makes the team a check written out to Grand Forks Fast Pitch can be given to your coach.
